Specialty Chemicals Manufacturer is seeking and Engineering Manager. This position leads and sets the direction for three NJ based facilities engineering teams (Project and Process Engineering) to meet plant goals in safety, environmental performance, raw material yields, production rates, and return on investment. This position focuses on managerial aspects of engineering such as cost, completion date and resource allocation as well as reviewing technical concepts and driving deployment of next generation process technology and methodologies to meet future business needs.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Primary
Responsibilities:
Provide functional leadership to support the manufacturing infrastructure. Communicate equipment status, initiatives and risks to other departments.
Apply advanced knowledge and best practices of Process Technology methods
Responsible for planning, devising or adapting methods to improve manufacturing production
Responsible and accountable for time, cost and scope of capital projects execution.
Ensure Engineering collaboration with plant management to increase equipment utilization employing Continuous Improvement techniques resulting in improved employee safety, production, quality, equipment reliability and overall equipment effectiveness.
Prioritizes and ensures efficient utilization of engineering resources based on plant requirements
Accountable for optimizing process control systems and for implementation of plant data interface/retrieval software
Provides input to business continuity planning
Identifies and recommends cost savings methods and processes
Processes documents, conducts inspections and manages the maintenance of engineering records
Participation in appropriate networking activities, (information sharing, best practices dialogue, joint problem solving, communities of practice), with external groups as well as act as the link to Corporations global engineering team. Ensure alignment across business and functional teams.
Manage within Engineering cost center budgets related to materials, contract services, department labor, and training.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
A Bachelors Degree in an Engineering Discipline is required coupled with familiarity with Capital Management
Familiarity with distributive control systems (DCS)
Basic understanding of intellectual property and protection
Strong written and verbal communication skills/strong computer skills
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization
Demonstrated leadership skills
Demonstrated ability to positively influence others to drive results
Demonstrated ability to use influencing skills to accomplish goals and objectives
Able to manage multiple priorities
Six Sigma Black Belt and Lean Expert certification preferred
Strong analytical skillsEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
